Extending Outdoor Living Beyond The Summer Months

16 March 2016 by First

Autumn is well and truly here with cooler mornings and warm afternoons, so how do you get the best out of your outdoor living area in the changing weather?

Flexible outdoor areas are the best way to squeeze out more outside living.  The ability to open and close screens or louvres offers you protection from all types of weather, whether it’s the hot sun in summer or wind and rain throughout the year.  Drop down screens are a popular choice for instant weather protection and materials available include a sturdy see through PVC screen or modern outdoor blind materials, which are translucent, available in a wide range of modern colours and great for wind protection.
For long term, sturdy options, many customers are looking at permanent additions to their outdoor areas, which offer year round shelter from whatever the weather throws at them.

This family had a purpose built deck added outside their living area, but soon discovered limits in its use, due to exposure to the beating sun on the north side of their home.  So, they were looking for a permanent solution for protection from the sun and also the rain for their young family. With a wall series louvre roof fixed on the side of the home, supported by 2 legs, they have found their ideal solution and when installed it fitted in so perfectly, it looked like it had been there all along. A lot of this was due to the Grey Friars powder coat finish, which matches the trim colour used for highlights on the home, enabling the louvre roof to blend in seamlessly.

The family can choose whether they want the roof louvres open or closed depending on the weather and make it happen with the touch of a button on their remote control.  This louvre roof is the completion of renovations on their outdoor area and they are thrilled with the result.
