Maximising Outdoor Spaces: Stunning Queenstown Project

Brendan and his HomePlus Southland team were approached by the owner of this property located on the banks of Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown to bring to life their very clear vision of what they wanted to achieve. The property is in a gorgeous location and the owner wanted to maximise the opportunities the amazing outlook and outdoor experience presented.

To ensure nothing detracted from the stunning views Edgetec^® Double Disc anchor balustrade with toughened safety glass and a slim top rail were chosen for the property’s three balconies. The 50mm diameter round, aluminium anchor fixings along with toughened glass panels, provide a clear, minimalistic, uncluttered and stylish finish. The top rail and double discs have been powder coated to match the existing joinery. This sympathetic balustrade will not compromise the view.

When you have a great outdoor space in tandem with this outlook, you would want to maximise all possibilities for using it. The installation of multiple freestanding louvre roofs has enabled their outside spaces to become an extension of the indoors. The roofs can be set to the best sun orientation to maximise shading during the day or be completely closed to give full protection from inclement weather including rain and snow. Its design ensures that guttering and downpipes are incorporated into the louvre roof and inbuilt LEDs in the support beams provide stylish lighting. The finished result is stunning modern outdoor focal points that have effectively blurred the boundary between the inside and outside.

For the boundary fence at the entrance to the property, Brendan had suggested Edge® Stecca™ be used. The customer was convinced by the aesthetic of these durable aluminium panels which is a key feature. The fitted slats on the front of the balustrade support rails (as opposed to inside the rails) have added an extra dimension of depth and interest. The panels have been powder coated to the customer’s requirement. 

The result is a stunning, modern and usable property that has maximised its main asset, the location.
