Tinted Balustrade Glass Shields Suns Glare

After 20 years of living in the original home, these homeowners built a brand new home to better capture the stunning views out to Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour.

Focused on the amazing harbourside views, the home has been built with generous decks off the living areas and master bedroom, for maximum exposure to the breathtaking vista.  Overlooking the generous pool, the home offers the ultimate in family resort like living, with easy access to the outdoor living area.

However, the sun angling directly onto the decks, was identified as a potential issue during the design stage.  At certain times of the year and with the direction the decks face, the late afternoon sun pours onto the front of the home and directly into people’s eyes especially on the second story deck off the master bedroom.  This had potential to interfere with the homeowners view and enjoyment of their gorgeous new home, particularly in the height of summer when outdoor living is most sought-after.

The solution was an easy fix in the end, just use tinted glass for the balustrades, which naturally keeps the glare from the afternoon sun at bay.  From many years’ experience fitting balustrades, the team at HomePlus Rodney knew exactly what was needed for this unique situation.  Plus, look at the stunning job they did fitting the Edgetec Infinity balustrade on the upper and lower decks.  Stylish and safe, what more could you want?
