What is a Louvre Roof and what Options are there.

6 December 2022 by Dan Rawling

A louvre roof represents shelter from the weather or an extra room to extend your outdoor living options. Designed and manufactured in NZ specifically for Kiwi weather conditions an opening louvre roof is customised to each property and can be fitted with drop-down screens or fully/partially enclosed with frameless glass sliding doors, offering protection from wind, rain, and even snow. Whatever the season an opening louvre roof offers flexibility to let in more sunlight on dull days or can be closed to give users full protection from the hot sun or rain. A louvre roof will expertly combine the traditional New Zealand veranda or gazebo concept, to make a stunning centrepiece for your outdoor area. Louvre roofs are available in three configurations.

Wall-mounted:

Double Bay Louvre Roof

A popular style for enhancing an outdoor area the wall series louvre roof is fixed directly to an outside wall. Custom designed for the individual home and appropriate to fix to one (2 supporting legs) or two walls (one supporting leg) on virtually all styles and shapes of homes. The support beams house hidden drainage details like downpipes, guttering and optional drop-down screens. LED lights integrated into horizontal beams are a popular and practical outdoor lighting feature. Finished in a modern powder coat colour of your choice, the finished Wall fixed louvre roof has been designed to blend in and look like it has always been part of the outdoor area.

Freestanding:

A HomePlus Freestanding Louvre roof is a stylish, independent structure with no supporting structure required for installation. Clever design means all the fixings and workings (such as guttering & downpipes) are encompassed in the Freestanding Louvre roof, so the finished look is a stunning, modern outdoor reference. As freestanding this louvre roof has greater flexibility for placement, particularly in outdoor areas with a low soffit or unsuitable fixing points. Custom-made Freestanding Louvre roofs are manufactured to the exact size you need, with options to add drop-down screens on each side and integrated LED lights in the support beams. Sensors are also available to close drop-down screens in strong wind and louvre roofs in sudden downpours.

Integrated Louvre Roof:

Custom fitting a built-in louvre roof into a new or existing deck roof will certainly add some star factor to an outdoor area and bridge the gap between your home and the outdoors. A perfect addition to any outdoor living area and creates a space that is usable all year round. An integrated louvre roof gives you all the benefits of an opening roof within a solid, permanent outdoor structure. Open the roof to let in the light on dull days or close it completely as the louvre blades fit snugly to create a water-resistant seal or barrier for harsh sun. All at the touch of a remote button. When closed the roof represents a modern tongue and groove finish.

The HomePlus team of specialists can help you through the entire custom design and installation process to create a desirable alfresco lifestyle space in your home. Create a unique outdoor room and extend your living space by dissolving the line between indoor, and outdoor flow with a HomePlus Louvre Roof for an outdoor entertainment area for all-year use. Fully automated from one remote control and powder coated in the finished colour of your choice a louvre roof also represents great investment value to your property.
