Stylish Room Division

7 July 2015 by Dan Rawling

Shortly after moving into their brand new, modern Tauranga home, the owner realised that she needed a way of separating her two adjacent lounges, specifically when entertaining visitors. The everyday "main" lounge is part of an open-plan kitchen/living area and the adjoining lounge is set aside for entertaining guests in a more intimate setting.

Stylish, internal doors were chosen from the 350 series to divide the two lounges, which fitted in with the home’s high quality, modern finish. Top-hung doors were chosen as they eliminate the need for guide tracks on the floor, which can be trip hazards and also disrupt the clean look of the continuous, matching flooring.

Throughout the home, the walls were finished in a neutral colour palette with the homeowner's favourite colour, Aqua Blue introduced through furnishing fabrics throughout the house. The doors were chosen to have Etchlite semi-transparent glass infill, as they had already been used extensively throughout the home and were particularly effective at picking up and reflecting the Aqua colour.

Two matching 3.3 metre-wide doors were required to partition the 2.4-metre-high doorway. They were finished in a Dulux Silver Star Metropolis Kinetic powder coat colour to match existing fixtures in the home. Manufactured and installed by HomePlus Tauranga, the customer was thrilled with the result.
